OST The Great Gatsby

After watching the following Great Gatsby trailer, I immediately fall in love with songs in the trailer.  Most definitely OST The Great Gatsby will become one of the most anticipated album this year!

Lana Del Rey  - Young and Beautiful
My favorite part of the soundtracks. The dark melody, cinematic and emotional feeling mashed perfectly with the movie scores. Lana delivers the song very well.

Florence and the Machine  - Over the Love
Florence’s voice sounds as evocative as ever,  her voice in a climax like a theatrical explosion which gives me chills!! Just amazingly powerful !

Sia – Kill and Run
Don’t you think she fits perfectly to sing a Bond theme song?! I thought so, when I first heard this song. She give a Shirley Bassie epicness doesn’t she? Love it!

The XX – Together
Despite all the comments who said that The XX will become mainstream, etc.  I think the song is great and man, it’s so sexy!! And I personally thinks this song still represent them, and glad that the band will have more recognition,,,,

So far those 4 was the one  who left big impression for me,,, other tracks,  I don’t hate but I don’t adore it either.  But I don’t quite like the cover of “Happy Together” by Filter and “Back to Black” by Beyonce and Andre 3000. “Back to Black” are supposed to be sing by Amy,,,the one and only Amy!

Vacation Time : Phuket, Thailand

One day I just went crazy and book a flight to Phuket despite all the works and study that I should've done.

Why Phuket? First, I never been to Thailand before, it's not that far from where I live, I had brother in law who works in Indigo Pearl Resort in Phuket,  and I haven't had vacation in ages,,,so yess, why not?! I went there for a week and spend my Birthday there,,,which is very lovely,,,

The beaches
Walking, swimming, sitting, lazying around the beach, I do that every day in Phuket,,,,I tried most of the beaches from Naiyang, Patong, Kata, Karon and Surin. And the one that I love the most is Kata beaches. And I take a photos in Reggae bar up near Kata Karon viewpoints, and see all the beaches line up very beautiful
Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

The Temples
I didn't get to see a lot of Temple, but I did go to Wat Chalong and Big Buddha, which is very very beautiful. Thank God I wear a proper dress to visit the temple. If you wear tank top and shorts, you'll need to cover yourself with a sarong that is prepared there.
  Untitled Untitled

Phi Phi Island!!
Yay,,,,Phi Phiiiii,,,,amazing white beaches,,,the beaches are so soft!! love love love it!!
Untitled Untitled

The Food!!
I gained 4kg in one week!! I ate like a pig,,,everything is so yummy! almost every night I eat pad thai. All of the food is my favourite I guess,,,I have one restaurant that I absolutely adore,,,I don't know the name because it's in Thailands but it's near Kata beach.

The Cruise,,,
Yess, I'm delightful when we got to play one day in a cruise,,,the ship is called Asian Lady,,,
Untitled

The Family
My soon to be brother in law has one year old son who amazingly cute!

I came home very very much tanned, fat but HAPPY!!!

Incubus Live in Jakarta

IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
Say Hello to the best band ever,,,

INCUBUS!!

Overwhelm. Cry of happiness. Uncontrolled emotions
Just imagine the person you admired your whole life is standing 150m  in front of you,,,
I fell in love with Incubus since I was in Junior high school, Fungus Amongus album made me fall in love with the band at the first sight. Dreams come true for sure,,,

This is the second time Incubus comes to Indonesia, I couldn't attend the first concert due to my study in Swiss. So hell yeah, I have to attend this one,,,if not now when? The performances itself is flawless, Brandon was so hypnotizing,,,*sorry i can't be objective with Incubus*. One thing that makes me disappointed is they didn't play their old songs such as : Sink beneath the line, azwethinkweiz, anti-gravity, hilikus, you'll be a hot dancer, etc. I'm kinda looking forward for that songs. The reasons maybe because they played it in 2008, their first concert in Jakarta. That's a pity,,,,

I didn't take any pictures at all because I'm too busy singing and jumping around luckily my Incunesian friend takes photos!! I thought I'd share it here,,,

Kylie Minogue "Aphrodite" Tour live in Jakarta

The SHOWGIRL return,,,,give it up for

Ms. KYLIE MINOGUE!!

The journey to attend Kylie’s concert is just WOW!! We’re stuck in a traffic jam for about 2 hours, our car broke down in the highway and we (4 girls) have to push the car until highway office at windy night with only shirt and short pants on. We have to leave the car if we plan to catch Kylie’s concert, we look for a taxi in a highway which is IMPOSSIBLE to get, so we decide to take a full loaded bus with our minimalist clothes on (believe me if you live in Indonesia, hot pants with tank top ride a bus is a big NO NO). We ride the bus just until we find a taxi , luckily we found taxi quite quick and go straight to Kylie’s concert venue! We’re on time! Lucky for us the concert was delayed for 1 hour due to traffic jam. FIUUUUH!!

The theme of her “Aphrodite” Concert 2011 is Greek so we could see a Parthenon stage and three gold stairs filled with dancers wearing Greek costume sets. Kylie came out beautifully from a gold giant shell and she sings Aphrodite!
Kylie comes out from a shell

Kylie knows how to entertain and performs that’s for sure! She brings a gold Pegasus and her sculpture, harp, chariot as stage property, plus 30 dancers, 6 musicians and 200 costume sets with her. Two words for her ALL OUT!!!
Kylie and her carriage

She sings 25 songs in total in about 2 hours show. She sings most of her hits songs such as “Can’t get you out of my head”, “Spinning Around”, “Get out of my way”, “Love at first sight”. Her dance numbers successfully turn the arena into a club! What makes me amaze are she re-arrange the song “Slow” into a slow sassy and sexy jazz!! And turn it around in the middle of the song into dance song! For me personally, that song is the BEST!! In the song “Looking for an angel”, one of the dancer come down to earth as an angel which is very beautiful to look at. She ends the concert with her latest hits “All the Lovers”. I just can’t believe 43 years old woman can be that energetic and HOT!
Kylie and her pegasus

Kylie is highly communicative with the audiences, she asks the audiences what song do they want to hear next, she sings “Hand on your heart” and “Locomotion” as requested. In several songs she looks coquettish which I love. She changes 7-8 times costume set and it’s very quick! The video that played on the LCD really3x a services for gays, no wonder she becomes a gay icon,,,
roti sobek geng!

I also love the audiences, well mostly it filled with women and gays but they’re all out! Love their clothes,,,everybody looks unique! Throughout the concert, she brings Greek and Vegas to me!! Certainly one of the concerts that I won’t forget!! Standing applause for Ms. Kylie Minogue, you’re truly an entertainer!

MGMT Live in Jakarta

Jakarta, 26 Maret 2011 – Urbanite Asia present “BeatFest 2011” with MGMT and The Whitest Boy Alive. The event takes place at Bengkel Night Park, SCBD Sudirman Jakarta.

I don’t know much about MGMT and The Whitest Boy Alive (TWBA). I started to like MGMT one year ago I guess, their artsy video clip intrigue me! Ok, first liner in this year Beatfest is Sajama Cut (local band), I seriously don’t know anything about this band and I come late so I didn’t watch their performances. So sorrrrrrry,,,,

Second liner is TWBA with Erlend Øye as the leader. This electro band is quite familiar with Indonesian crowds, this is their second time in Indonesia. Erlend is very communicative with the crowds which makes the performances is more enjoyable despite simplicity in their music. In the middle of the show, Erlend ask the audience to silence for a while to respect Earth Hour. Their performances closed by the one and only song from TWBA that I knew which is “1517”.

Quite long transition from TWBA to MGMT and the venue is getting hotter and hotter (because of the Earth Hour, they use less Air con). The crowds was screaming when they come out and sing “It’s working”. Later on, MGMT’s catchy hooks like “Weekend Wars?” and “Electric Feel” got the crowd moving. One more thing that I remember that the song “Siberian Breaks” last more than 10 minutes which is quite overwhelm for me, Thank God after that they played “Kids” ,,,that’s refreshing!!

MGMT

MGMT

In summary, MGMT’s performance was exactly the same as the records, which was impressive considering how complex their music’s are. Every note and layer from the records was there, and it really show how accomplished this young musician is. Because the performances stole most of their concentration, they didn’t interact much with the crowd which becomes a weak point of their concert in my opinion. What I looooove the most is MGMT’s psychedelic 80’s retro videography projections that complemented their sounds!!

MGMT

Ok,,,see you guys in the next concert : Incubus live in Jakarta!

SUEDE Live in Jakarta!!

After almost 8 years, we meet again my dearest

SUEDE

Suede

Suede came to Jakarta in 2003 for the first time! *minus Mr.Codling*. Not long after that, they split up. Each of them is busy with their project. Brett has his solo album project, Simon and Oakes is busy with their other band Futon and Artmagic, Mat toured with Brett while Neil toured with Natalie Imbruglia.

In 2010, they decide to reunite and played in London's Royal Albert Hall as part of the 2010 Teenage Cancer Trust shows. After that, they release "The Best of Suede" in September. And they've been touring to promote the album.

They wrote in their official websites about the Jakarta gigs, which cost a leaked information because it is supposed to be a surprise. As I mentioned before in my previous post about the ticketing system for Live and Rockin, we have to do trade in! However, because of this insanity, Suede fans share the problem on Suede's official forum. And amazingly, Suede management hear our complaints and find a better solution for us which is 500 giveaway tickets for Suede fans. Thank you guys for fighting for us!!!

Ok, enough with the introduction to Suede! Here comes my overwhelm expression toward Suede's concert on 19 March 2011.

It's funny before Suede comes out, the MC said "We have to thank Blackberry for this bla bla" and all the audiences BOO-ed him and blackberry *including me*

Here's the setlist for the night
setlist

If I compare with 2003, the sound is better in 2003 however the crowds, the ambiances 2011 are definitely full of awesomeness!! There are many die hard Suede who misses them a lot and express their joy and excitement!!

Suede

It's hard to get Brett's photos because he moved a lot!!! i still can't believe he's 43! How he dance, how he spin his mic and his body! *kapan lagi bisa liat dance langka itu?*

And, what makes me enjoy this concert more than 2003 is because MR. NEIL JOHN CODLING! and he's in front of my eyes!! My camera = Neil-minded *help,,,i'm melting!!*

Neil Codling

Neil Codling

I'm fully satisfied especially they played a lot of songs from old albums : Suede, Dog Man Star and the booming Coming up album! this 3 albums definitely THE BEST OF SUEDE!! I was hoping that they'll play My Insatiable one and Europe is our playground!

The best concert of the Year!!

Live and Rockin Jakarta

some oh so famous smartphone brand proudly present

Live and Rockin Festival

Live and Rockin

Live and Rockin is actually a nice music festival because it consist of artist from different music genres, fans gathered all in one thoughts "we love MUSIC". However, the sponsor's intention was definitely not for a good cause!! I was freaking excited when I knew about Live and Rockin but not until the promoter informed us about the ticketing system.

Blackberry, the official one and only sponsor for Live and Rockin "force" us to do trade-in (trade your old mobile phones with Blackberry oh so smart phone) in order to get the ticket, which cost at least 3 mill rupiah or 300 USD. It's an expensive price for a concert ticket in Indonesia. Yes, they also giveaway free ticket but it's not because the sponsor policy, it all because negotiation between promoter and artist management vs sponsor. Seriously, without this event everybody in Indonesia already have a blackberry! You just give yourself a bad marketing image!! at least for the artist die hard fans,,,,

Back to the event, I'm a die hard Suede fans, I don't know much about the other artist, I'll try to be objective.
  • 2PM
First off is Korean boyband 2PM! As you guys all know, most countries in Asia suffered from Korean Booming Virus! Therefore 2pm is well received here. Most of the audiences are teenage girls, we can noticed it by the high tone sound they produces when 2PM is on stage. I stayed at the back listening to at least 2 of their songs then I go out for cigarette break and buy drinks. 10 minutes after, there are hundreds of girls running outside.
I ask one sweaty girl who doesn't seems so happy
Me: "Is it over?"
The girl: "Yes, it's fast!!! they only sang 4 songs"
Me : "Ah really? And why are you sweating like that?"
The girl : (started to share her experiences aka curlong) "Inside was intense, we almost can't breath! I'm really disappointed, I queued for 5 hours long and 2PM only sang 4 songs? Oh please, they could sing at least 10 songs."
  • Shontelle
Move to other artist, Shontelle! Shontelle is an R&B female singer, she look a bit like Rihanna. Differ from 2PM, Shontelle sang around 5-6 songs, I move a bit closer to the stage, enjoy the beautiful voice of Shontelle, eventhough I don't know her songs. Other things that I noticed from Shontelle performance is that her 2 dancers are amazingly energetic and sexy!
  •  Taio Cruz
Next is new upcoming R&B male singer, Taio Cruz. His songs often played in the radio so I know at least his hits single. He opens with Break Your Heart and closes with Dynamite. His outfit is exactly the same like in promotional posters for Live and Rockin, sunglasses + leather jacket. He has good line up songs however for me, his performances was so so! *kalo kata org, kurang greget gituh*

In the end, I watched all of the artist and I enjoy it a lot! *despite the greedy sponsor*

ps : I'll write in a different post for Suede!

Java Jazz 2011

Indonesia's biggest annual Jazz Festival

Java Jazz 2011

JJF 2011

Biggest Jazz Festival is back! The place where we could just relax and enjoy music! The line up artist will blow your mind with their Godsend voices, their musicality talents, and their way to groove your night!!

The line up artist include the great Santana, George Benson, Fourplay, Sondre Lerche, Corinne Bailey Rae, Acoustic Alchemy and many talented local artist. I attend the event on Friday, and I got to see only 3 artist (The Groove, Sondre and Corinne).

Here's my highlights on the event!

1. Venue
Even though it's far but I glad that Java Production moved the venue to JiExpo Kemayoran *my first Java Jazz since the moved the venue*. It's quite large which gives us more space. I love the food section, it's not too crowded.

2. Artist
  • The Groove
Yay!! they are having a reunion!! full member including Yuke!! They sang their hits such as: Satu mimpi, Dahulu, Katakan dengan Cinta, etc and couple new song. I like their reunion song "Let's go reunion" which is specially made for this event. Rieka and Reza are really attractive and communicative on stage.
  • Sondre Lerche
Ok, I'm a bit disappointed! Why did they give Sondre a Femina hall? Femina hall is too small for Sondre that is why his fans are unhappy because it's too crowded *including me*. In Femina hall they provide a chair which takes up lots of spaces and on the back others have to stand.

There are hilarious incident during the show. At the back it's crowded and we can't see anything and there's a family (mom, son and daughter) insist to go to the front to see Sondre, they're very eager seeing how they often push people who get in their way. I thought they must be a huge fans of Sondre. I overheard the conversation between Mom and her son (+/- 10 years old)
Son : Mom, come on faster! It's Jason Mraz!!(WTH?? Wrong year little boy)
Mom : No, it's not Jason Mraz, Jason Mraz is not playing in Java Jazz this year, it's GEORGE BENSON! (dang!!!!)
  •  Corinne Bailey Rae
How can I describe her? Talented, beautiful and angel voice! period

See you in the next Java Jazz 2012

Sports that Unite the Nation

As we all know, Indonesia is one of the country that has a great fondness in soccer. What is so great about soccer? For me, soccer is one important element that can strengthen unity and togetherness among all people throughout the nation.

Indonesia played very beautifully and attractively in AFF Suzuki Cup 2010, which had just ended. Indonesia failed to win the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010, but it successfully moved hundreds of million of people worldwide. And it wins the hearts of Indonesian.

165316_1739862865449_1504985165_1790120_3132141_n

Soccer has once again unite the nation, at least in the last 2 weeks. Millions and millions of people nationwide consistently talked about their nation soccer team, wore their red color jersey, and shared their pride with counterparts worldwide.

Thank you Firman, Arif, Bustomi, Gonzales, Nasuha, Hamka, Maman, Ridwan, Okto, Zulkifli, Bambang, Irfan, Yongki, Markus and all Tim Nasional Indonesia for showing me amazing games

Thank you Alfred Riedl for standing up for us!

Thank you Indonesian supporter's,,,,you guys are just WOW!!!

The Temper Trap live in Jakarta

it's finally here!!! The concert that i've been waiting for!!! This is the great closing concert of the year! woooohooooo,,,,give it up to

The Temper Trap!!!

the temper trap

Ok,,,,first,,,Thanks to Ismaya Live for bringing The Temper Trap to Indonesia! The show start at 8pm with Efek Rumah Kaca and James Yuill as the opening act.

and yess, after waiting 2,5 hours it's finally here! what i hate is i got a nice spot in front of the stage but i left it because i have to pee and we need cigarette breaks, we can't smoke inside. when i returned, the place is crowded!! I can't move to the front at all,,,

Ok at 22.30,,,,Temper trap open with instrumental intro followed "Rest". And the heat is on when they play FADER!! yess,,,,i'm screaming while singing and jumping like crazy. Yess that's the beauty of festival place, we feel the ambiance! Temper trap again play Fools, Down River and Love Lost,,,,,mass choir is on!!

you can hear the mass choir clearly and but instead you can't hear Dougy! but if you were there,,,it's impossible not to sing even though Temper trap song is not easy to sing! Dougy speaks Bahasa fluently!! YESS,,,the man with that amazing falset voice comes from Indonesia!! Proud of you Dougy!!
SING IT LOUDLY!!! "Our love was lost Our love was lost, but now we've found it. And if you flash your heart, your heart, I won't deny it. I promise,,,,"

They have 5 minutes break and come back again with New Song and Sciences of Fear! Dougy talked about how members got stomachache for having too many Indonesian dishes,,,so they have to take a break!

The concert finished at 1am i guess,,,and i spend the rest of the day hangout with my friends at Melly's, a cool cheap place to drink and hangout! i ended up going home at 5am in the morning! But it's totally worth it!

Wow,,,it's LOOOOONG! Overwhelm with the exitement! Too bad i didn't get to see The Raveonettes in Bandung, because they both perform at the same day at different places! I heard The Flaming Lips concert in Singapore were awesome! I wish i got money to go there,,,

Java Soulnation 2010

JAVA SOULNATION 2010

I didn't plan to go to this Festival before but fortunately one of my friend who works in media offer me free tickets,,,and Thank you Cecile for doing that coz i had a time of my life! there are several singer that perform that day which are Les Nubians (french soul duo), Dira Sugandi, Sandy Sandoro, Barry Likumahua tribute to motown, The Boogiemen and the highlight of the evening COOLIO!!

I arrived late at the venue which is in Istora Senayan, i immediately go to Main stage to watch Les Nubians. The one that i like with Java Production is they always always ON TIME! Bravo for it!

Helene and Celia, under their voices, we were on a spell!! Their voice is amazing and the song mostly in French so it always sounds sexy! I had a best spot to watch them in front of the stage exactly
Les Nubians
(i capture it with my low quality camera phone)

And this is one of their song Liberte in the new album called Nu Revolution!

And one more performer that made my day is Coolio! I only know two songs of Coolio but i enjoyed the show very much! I didn't believe that Coolio is 47 and he's too attractive for that age. He interacted with the female audience often! He's down to earth indeed! after the concert finished, he came down to the crowds and shake hands with them include me!!!!!!!!!!! yesss,,,,i shook Coolio hands! i didn't took any photos or video,,,we just simply enjoy the concert, sing along, dancing and screaming out loud!

Today is a blast! Good concert, good performer, good friends,,,

Kula Shaker live in Jakarta

after 14 years waiting,,,,3 hours waiting in the rain,,,
Give it up to KULA SHAKER!!

kula shaker

They played 13 songs in total!! That's a lot! in Korea they only played 8 songs! I'm really grateful for that,,,
Good songlist including old "kick ass" song such as Hush, Govinda, Tattva, Hey Dude, Mystical Machine Gun, Sounds of Drum.

Crispian Mills
Mills1Crispian Mills

A bit higlight on "Peter pan RIP",,,before play this song, Mr Mills jokes about it by saying "But hey, this is not the song about the pop/pornstar kay?",,,the audience were laughing and questioning how the hell Crispian knows about that???

And the magnificent closing song by Kula Shaker, "Govinda" chanted by over 1000 audience! good and skillful intro yet again from Mr. Mills

Mr Mills rocks the stage amazingly!! crazy fangirl alert huh? he's one of my idol growin up,,,The performance was awesome,,,,best day of my life!
